Carefully backfill around the septic tank and over the drainfield pipes with suitable soil. Compact the soil in layers to prevent settling. The final grade should direct surface water away from the tank and drainfield to prevent saturation and potential contamination. Ensure the final cover depth over the drainfield meets local code requirements.
