Step 5 · Mask and Protect Surfaces

Apply painter's tape along edges of trim, windows, doors, and any areas you do not want to paint. Lay down drop cloths to cover floors and furniture completely. Ensure all protected areas are secure and that there are no gaps for paint to seep through.
